The 5^th Annual Drop Dead Gorgeous Zombie Beauty Pageant at the NYC Beauty Bar is on Sunday, December 18^th starting at 9pm – 231 E 14th St btwn 2nd and 3rd Ave! As always it’s FREE but you must be 21 + to enter!

Come get bloody and have some ghoulish holiday fun! Prizes for sexiest and most festive zombies! XXXmas zombies, Hanukkah zombies, Kwanza Zombies, Festivus Zombies or whatever you celebrate! All are welcome!

As always the NYC Zombie Crawl will be providing makeup to the beautiful contestants in the Beauty Pageant (Females only) but it is recommended that contestants come in your original zombie best to the event! We’re happy to help you with your costume or any appliances or makeup you bring as well but a big part of the contest is how original you are!

If you want to be a part of the main pageant, please email Michael Stewart at Michael@thebeautybar.com with your name and basic contact info. Contestest are judged on costume & looks as well as a talent portion and a few other surprises!

We’ll also be doing a holiday  zombie costume contest as well so guys and gals can all compete in that separately from the pageant, you just sign up for that at the event!

It’s been a busy zombie season, so much so that we’ve not had time to do a proper wrapup of all the madness from October! I’ll give you a little briefing below to hold you over but first want to let you know that the zombie gatherings will extend into December this year!

The next event we’re sponsoring is the D20 Zombie Burlesque show on Sat, November 26th in NYC! The show is a monthly event of nerdy burlesque (aka Nerdlesque) with a different geeky theme every month and this month it’s zombies! The action take place at the Parkside Lounge (317 East Houston, New York, NY 10002) with a show at 9:30p and 11:30p, it’s 21+ and you can buy tickets here now! NYC Zombie Crawl will be donating some prizes for the raffle.

Then in December we’ll be doing our 5th annual Zombie Beauty Pageant at the Beauty Bar NYC – date and more details coming soon!

Now onto the October madness! Much thanks to our sponsors Pabst Blue Ribbon, Zombie Booth and Halloween Adventure for the support! We began with the 4th annual NYC Zombie Crawl on October 16th. Check out the full NSFW wrapup at DRIVEN BY BOREDOM. Angelo Moore from Fishbone AKA Dr. MaddVibe shot a music video and performed along with our pals Nassau Chainsaw DisGraCeLand Demolition Committee and God’s Green Earth. Unfortunately the same night we found out our dear friend Spliff, founder of DisGraCeLand had passed away so the night was in honor of him. We raised some money for his funeral, thanks to everyone who donated and participated.

After that we headed to Chicago for the Rise of the Stripping Dead event where the NYC Zombie Crawl provided makeup for all of the performers for 4 nights in a row as well as performed a Zombie Fetish Sideshow edition of Strip for Pain. Our friends Miss Crash and Masuimi Max did some epic performances along with new friends Mosh and Narcissister and we bled all over Chicago. The shows went so well we’ll be taking it on the road next year so NYC watch out!!

The following week in Chicago we presented The XXXorcist and Re-Penetrator LIVE shows with Joanna Angel, Tommy Pistol and Pheonix Askani, where we continued to bleed and vomit all over Chicago for a 2nd week.

Then we went back to NYC and did it again at the SMack Halloween Fetish Ball.

And finally Halloween arrived and we finished off the month with Jagermeister, doing zombie makeup for their float in the NYC Halloween Parade.

Of course, we could not have done all of this alone. Thanks so much to all the makeup artists who helped out at the NYC Zombie Crawl and in Chicago including Steve Saturn, Jessica Laskaris, Chrisine Conley, Zee Gustafson and countless others…mad props to Zac Amico and Michelle Crouchelli for helping pull together the XXXorcist set in NY…my cloaked partners in crime Nick Danger and Zafer Ulkucu and the lovely Goddess Shea for helping out the whole month through! And to everyone who supported our madness – Michael Stewart and the Beauty Bar, Arlene’s Grocery and the Contentinal, Tim ‘Gravy’ Brown and the Admiral Theater, Sidney Scarlett, Xris Smack, the Jagermeister folks, Pabst Blue Ribbon, ZombieBooth and all of the Burning Angel crew! And finally my DisGraCeLand Family – it was a tough month but Spliff would be proud. Also want to send love out to another member of DisGraCeland who passed away recently, the ever lovin Peter Tabaco (pictured below on the right). RIP Brother.

Those who attended the event know that our dear friend and brother Spliff, the father of DisGraCeLand passed away the morning of the crawl after a year and 3 months of fighting his way back from a horrible car accident. Spliff has been with the NYC Zombie Crawl from the very beginning and DisGraCeLand has been a part of every event we’ve done. The news devastated everyone but we pulled through and performed for Spliff. All of the raffle proceeds and a portion of the profits and bar tabs will be going towards his funeral fund which is this Saturday. You can donate to the cause and help his family at the paypal link at this website.

It’s all going to kick off at the Beauty Bar NYC by Union Square (231 E 14th St in Manhattan btwn 2nd and 3rd Ave). from 4pm-6pm with the zombie meet up and makeup. Our zombie makeup technicians will be charging a small fee to create zombies or you can bring out your dead! It’s 21 to drink zombie drink specials or enter the bar, but all ages are welcome to join us for the crawl event at 6pm!

At 6pm the madness begins as we crawl through the East Village. This year we’re honored to have Angelo Moore aka Dr. MaddVibe (also frontman of the legendary Fishbone) as a part of the event! We will be shooting the crawl as part of a new Dr. MaddVibe music video and Dr. MaddVibe will also be performing at the official after party!

Check out our friend J.D. Brown’s directorial debut, a short horror movie called ‘The Tap Dancer’ aka ‘T is for Tap Dance’.  The short is entered into the film competition for ‘The ABC’s of Death‘ a cool anthology feature film with 26 short films, each themed around a death related to each letter of the alphabet. The 26th director is for the letter ‘T’, which will be chosen by the submission with the most amount of votes on the website! ‘T is for Tap Dance’ is now on the website and YOU CAN VOTE HERE!!

The movie stars Nick Shellenberger, Tim Cronin, Ariella Cohen, Sarah Mostov and Aria Rae, and was assistant directed by Amy Glickman Brown, shot by Zafer Ulkucu with special effects by zombie ringleader Doug Sakmann.

Much love and blood to all our zombies who came out to Dorney Park and helped us set a NEW Guinness world record! 330 Zombies who are the most costumed riders on an amusement ride!! We had over 1500 zombies in the park! Special thanks to our pals at the NJ Zombie Walk and Philly Zombie Crawl, Zombie Beach Party & Zombie Prom and of course NASSAU CHAINSAW DisGraceLand Demolition Committee for an amazing performance, the night wouldn’t have been the same without them!!

The Zombie Invasion is this THURSDAY! If you want to catch the party bus or need a hotel room for Dorney next Thursday, August 18th – email me at doug@backseatconceptions.com with the subject DORNEY ZOMBIE TRANSPORT- ASAP with number of people and for more details!  For hotels, 4 to a room for $95 (split 4 ways) or you can get your own for $95 – Bus tix are looking to be between $30-40 round trip! You don’t have to take the bus to get a zombie hotel room, but just let us know and we will accommodate. We also have a VIP option, email for more details!

Buy your park tix here for $25 in advance – You want to get your tickets IN ADVANCE since the AT THE GATE price is $30 (an extra $5).

We’ll have 3 different tiers of zombie make up available at the park – Basic for $10, Advanced for $25 and Premium for $40 – with over 40 makeup artists applying it!

Also added are live music by Nassau Chainsaw Disgraceland Demolition Committee – featuring live flesh hook performances! Also performing live are The Sharkskins! There will also be some ghoulish DJs throughout the night as well.

We’re also going for a new Guinness Record – Most costumed riders on an Amusement Ride! In order for you to qualify for the record, you need to be in basic 3 color zombie makeup (base color, eye socket color and blood) as well as one article of zombie wardrobe (ripped shirt or some basic zombie costume). We will be providing zombie makeup at the park, but it’s up to you to bring a costume piece – just go to a thrift store or bring a shirt that you don’t mind getting messed up and we will do the rest!

And finally, we may have a few extra spots for makeup artists – if you are interested contact me at doug@backseatconceptions.com and we’ll see what we can do…we have over 40 makeup artists with more being confirmed now!

So overall, just get your tix in advance and let us know if you’d like to get on the bus or stay overnight with us! It’s going to be a zombie party!!

NYC Zombie Crawl is proud to be a part of the Dorney Park Zombie Invasion on August 18th! For one day Zombies will have control over the park!

We’re working with the Philly Zombie Crawl and NJ Zombie Crawl to create the ultimate east coast zombie experience! It’s a full day of fun at Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom at a discounted price, only $25 for full access to the park during normal hours (9am-8pm)! Then from 8pm-Midnight only zombies have access to the park!

We’ll have a special ZOMBIES ONLY area of the park where the east coast’s top SPFX makeup artists will be making up zombies as well as a buffet, bands, a costume contest, drink specials for zombies over 21, and much more madness!! We’re also going to attempt to break some Guinness World Records as well!

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — If the lack of horrific beasties on the streets of Brooklyn has been keeping you asleep at night, then you might consider heading to Williamsburg weekend’s Zombie Crawl.

This annual scare-fest, now in its fourth year, turns the streets of Williamsburg into a relentless march of the undead. And the best part? You’ll be the zombies doing the crawling.

The event kicks off at the Knitting Factory Sunday at 6:00 p.m., when a team of trained makeup professionals will turn you and your friends into the zombies of your nightmares. Then you take to the streets to take part in the filming of a forthcoming horror sequel, Punk Rock Holocaust 3.

“Part of Punk Rock Holocaust 3 is getting the fans involved both as victims in the movie as well as filmmakers shooting footage so we’re using the NYC Zombie Crawl as a launch for that,” said Doug Sakmann, director of the film and organizer of the event. “Everyone can shoot footage with their phones, cameras, whatever – and then upload it.”

A slow traipse down Bedford is not all that will go on at this year’s crawl. The newly undead will end up at McCarren Park and then Public Assembly bar, where the organizers have arranged a host of gruesomely fun activities. There will be a lively game of tug-o-war, a Misfits cover band, zombie burlesque dancers and even comedy by the one and only Zombie Dangerfield.

In short, this is the perfect event to tide you over until Halloween.

The Zombie Crawl originated when Sakmann was inspired by the success of a similar event held in Philadelphia.

“Our friends at the Philly Zombie Crawl have been bleeding all over Philly since 2005 and when I saw there was no real zombie organization in NYC, I knew it was my destiny,” he said, noting how his event has grown through the years.

“The first crawl in May 2007, we had about 100 zombies but now we average between 700-1000 zombies per event.”

If you needed any proof that zombies have clawed their way back to mainstream culture – not to worry. There are more movies, television shows and comics than you can shake a bloodthirsty stick at. Even the US Government is getting in on the act.

“The Center for Disease Control just released a new section on their Web site about what to do in the possibility a zombie apocalypse.” Said Sakmann. “Obviously zombies are in the back of the public consciousness.”
